Sometimes it’s just the fight that we love and that helps us pass the time, move the bar and get on with the doing.
Sometimes it’s just the doubt of someone telling us we can’t do something, that gives us the motivation to dig in and prove them wrong.
What happens when you’ve won the fights and you proved everyone wrong? If nothing else motivates you to keep fighting, your Fight For could be missing.
At some point you have to transition from the fight, to what you are fighting for, and if what you are fighting for isn’t what lights the fire, it is hard to stay active.
In Angela Duckworth’s book Grit, she explains it like this, “They not only had determination, they had direction. It was this combination of passion and perseverance that made high achievers special. In a word, they had grit.
Actions speak louder than words, but action without direction, without passion is just a fire hose without someone directing it. Lots of action, in the end everything but the fire gets wet.
Be Good,
